- Five years judicial experience on the Alabama Supreme Court and 16 years as Jefferson County Probate Judge.
- Practiced law for 16 years prior to election. Member of the Alabama State Bar and Birmingham Bar Association.

- Served as President, Secretary & Treasurer of Alabama

- Commissioner on Governor’s Commission on Consolidation,
Efficiency & Funding.
CHILD ADVOCATE
- As Probate Judge in Jefferson County, presided over
6,000 adoptions.
- Nationally recognized in 2000 by “Angels of Adoption” in
Washington, DC for his service to adoptive families.
- Authored Alabama’s Putative Father Registry Law to protect
the rights of parties in adoption proceedings.
- Serves on the Board of Directors of Heart Gallery, Alabama,
an organization dedicated to finding permanent loving families
for children in Alabama’s foster care system.
- Serves on the Board of Directors of Glenwood, a nonprofit organization that provides treatment and education services for individuals diagnosed with autism, emotional disturbances, and mental illness.

ALABAMA ROOTS
- Married to wife of 25 years, Rosemary, and has one daughter,
Leigh Anne, age 18.
- Active member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Hoover.
- Born and raised in Jefferson County and attended Birmingham public schools, including Shades Valley High.
